interview: jacek kaczynski, another defense

Jacek Kaczyński is an anarchist artist, but not literally. It is in his heart, it couldn’t be any other way. Wu doesn’t live disillusioned, nor with hope, nor in a premeditated way. He has emptied his imperfect home structured with concepts and colors and has drawn in it gaps and wrinkles. He is a virgin in front of each illustration, which he is capable of loving infinitely once it walks through his door without knocking. He always lets you in, even though he doesn’t assure you will feel comfortable. In his soul, his welcoming suite, only impulse and contradiction rule. In his body, hope and fear are in battle. Yes, he is human, a human sure of his insecurity, as you can tell from his elusive looks in his characters that have deep and shy eyes. A human with overdosed emotions, like us. Pure hearted with some stains, the artist of our front cover, shapes his nature with polish sense of humor and oriental folk culture. There is always a smile in his illustrations because that is their purpose. T: Marta Rosella G.D. (To read the complete interview at lamono’s March/April print issue: BIG, click here)
